Possums
The Possums room is for 18 month old to 3 year old toddlers who engage with educators on a 1:4 and 1:5 ratio
Educators assist our toddlers in growing their autonomy, independence and self-help skills as well as continue to build on their self-confidence and self-regulation. At this age, the children become aware of a familiar routine that is flexible depending on the individual family and child’s needs.
In the Possum room, we explore an indoor/outdoor program with the benefit of our verandah. Within the care environment, the children are fostered to develop social relationships with both their peers and educators. You will see lots of roles and imaginative play as well as spontaneous learning depending on the children’s interests. Children will engage in tactile learning allowing them to explore their world through senses. Research informs us that hands-on experiences enable the children to process and cement their learning.
Educators value building a relationship with each individual child to ensure they feel safe and welcomed in the setting. We allow children to become independent and investigate their environment whilst actively involving ourselves in their interests to offer support.

Our environments are flexible and responsive to the changing needs and interests of the children, which supports the children to grow, learn and make connections between what they are learning in both the indoor and outdoor environments, at home and in our local community of Alstonville.
