ECT Room Leader Kangaroos (BED ECE)

Hi, I’m Amanda and I’m the Kangaroo room leader. When I finished high school I studied a Bachelor of Science and worked as a Hospital Scientist in Sutherland for 2 years before my husband and I moved to the Northern Rivers. I was inspired to get into ECEC after having my own children who are now 9 and 11 years old. When my children were young I realised how important the early years were to a child’s overall development. My scientific background also gave me a deeper understanding about brain development, social, emotional, physical and cognitive factors that can impact on a child’s development. I started off by studying me Certificate 3 in ECEC 8 years ago and have worked my way up to being close to finishing my Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education). I enjoy educating children through nurturing and building trusting and respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues. I think it is important to use the children’s interests to build on their strengths and I aim to support the development of children’s emotional and social skills through positive interactions.
