Our Qualified & Dedicated Team
Director (BED ECE)
Hello, I’m Lisa and I am the Director of Possum Place. I have a Bachelor of Education in ECE, Diploma of Management in Community Services, Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, as well as currently studying my Masters in Education. I rescued Possum Place as it was at risk of closure in 2012 and I have been working in the Education industry since 2000.
I enjoy working with young children, providing them with the opportunity to make a small difference in their life. I am passionate about applying the theories of development to the progress of the child. I spend a lot of time working in partnership with families to support their children. Lessons learnt in my career path thus far include the regulatory environment controlling the operations of the services. Another lesson I have learnt is that each child is unique and needs to be addressed as such.
Being a teacher was always my passion, however, when I finished school I didn’t have the opportunity to go to university. So after having my own children, I was inspired once again and moved from marketing to Early Childhood teaching. Outside of work, I like to exercise and try very hard to keep in touch with my family and children.
ECT Assistant Director (BEd ECE/Prim)
Hi, I’m Elly and I have a Bachelor of Education in ECE and Primary. I started working at Possum Place in 2014 before moving to London to teach in a school for 18 months in 2017.
I was inspired to get into ECEC because of my mum, Lisa. She is the owner and director of three childcare centres and has shown me the privilege of educating young children every day as well as incredible leadership and management skills. I am passionate about transitioning children to school and making sure they are socially and emotionally confident and ready to make their next step in life. Whilst working in this profession I have learnt that no two days are the same. The children bring so much happiness and energy to each moment and it is the little things that matter the most.
Outside of work I love keeping active and being by the beach. I also enjoy summer BBQ’s with my friends and family.
ECT Room leader Kangaroos and Educational Leader (BEd ECE)
Hi, I’m Nikki and I have a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. I have been in the ECEC industry for close to 10 years. I have been at Possum Place Preschool and ELC since 2012 when it was first established.
I was drawn to the industry as I have always found it easy to build relationships with children and I was interested in the field of education. The major lesson I have learnt from working in ECEC is learning from the experiences of your colleagues. The children have taught me to stop and enjoy being in the moment which I have been able to transfer to my home life. I am passionate about mentoring other educators in this industry and sharing my knowledge as the Educational Leader. I am also very familiar with supporting children and their families in the transition to Primary School.
Outside of work I love to bake and cook for my husband and son Jack. I also love to relax with a good book.
Koalas Room Leader(DIP)
Hi, I’m Abby and I have my Diploma in Early Education. I have been working in the industry for 4 years and have been at Possum Place for 3 years. I was inspired to get into ECEC after I experienced a summer camp in Canada and realised I wanted to continue a career where I can challenge the children to be their best versions. I am passionate about building relationships with children and creating environments that enhance children’s learning.
Outside of work I enjoy going for runs and doing boot camps with friends. I also play soccer and love going to the beach. I am very excited to see what this year has to come!
Room Leader Joeys (Diploma)
Hey, I’m Kelly and I have my Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I have been working at Possum Place in a room leader role since 2012 and I have been in the ECEC industry for 12 years working across every age group.
I have always been interested in working with children from a young age starting with babysitting at the age of 12. I am passionate about creating a safe environment for the children and their families. I find it rewarding knowing I have assisted the children in some small way to reach their milestones. Whilst being in Early Childhood I have learnt that each child and their family is uniquely different and that is what makes it such a joy working with them. When I am not at work I enjoy reading and spending time with my husband and our three daughters.
Possums Room Leader (Diploma)
Hi, I’m Dianne and I have my Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I have been working at Possum Place as an assistant Educator since October 2015 and recently I was lucky enough to be given an opportunity to be the room leader in the Possum Room (2-3 Years).
This experience has been a special and rewarding experience for me, working with the children and watching them have many exciting, learning moments knowing that I have been a part of that with them.
Working with children has given me the insight that each day has many ‘aha’ moments, and we need to enjoy the process.
Outside of work I love to read, go camping, hang out at the beach and travel overseas to visit my daughter.
Kangaroos Educator (Diploma – WT)
Hi, I’m Claudia and I am working towards my Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I recently moved to the area from a small agricultural town, Temora, and soon after kickstarted my journey in the ECEC industry at Possum Place in August, 2020. My passion for the field began about 3 years ago when my family began foster caring, I saw how important the early years of a child really are, and knew I wanted to be a part of that. I love that each day is never the same, and I’m always learning something new, from the children and from my colleagues. I spend most of my spare time exploring this beautiful area I now call home, going to markets, walking my dog and reading books.
Educator Joeys (Cert III)
Hi, I’m Karen. I have my Certificate III in Children’s Services and have worked at Possum Place for five and a half years, I have been working in EC for 7 years and before that as a high school teacher. Outside of work I enjoy being active in the outdoors, camping and photography as well as spending time with my husband and two boys.
I chose EC as my profession as being a part of the growth of a child carries great responsibility and rewards. EC allows me to use my creativity and create aesthetically pleasing environments for the children. EC provides me with the opportunity to learn about the world at the same time as the children. When working with children you know your day is going to include fun and laughter.
Educator Possums (Cert III)
Hi, I’m Ellen and I have my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. I started working at Possum Place since February 2018. I have also worked in a children’s toy library, 3-year-old kindy and a teacher’s aid for children with additional needs.
I love watching children grow and I enjoy teaching them new skills. Children are a joy to be around and are always learning new skills. I have learnt that all children are different and you have to build relationships with children and families. I love having a job with a purpose, where I feel like I am making a positive impact on young children. Outside of work I love to garden and craft. I spend most of my time with my family. I have an 18-year-old son and lots of nieces and nephews.
Educator (Cert III)
Hello, I’m Sammi. I joined Possum Place in 2019 and have been working within each room building relationships with staff and children. I currently hold a Cert 3 and have been working in the industry for 8 years.
I’m a mum to a vibrant and busy 2 year old boy and we will be welcoming another baby boy in March. I have always enjoyed being around children and watching them to learn and grow at their own pace. I feel strongly about providing a happy, positive environment where all children can succeed.
ECT (Early Childhood Teacher)
Hey, I’m Lexi and my favourite part of working in Early Childhood is being able to have a positive impact on children’s lives and learning alongside them. I have a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) and have only recently begun my journey at Possum Place. Within the field, my passion is teaching about sustainability and connecting with nature. When not teaching, I enjoy spending my time at the beach with my family or gardening.
